PFD

In November 2013, the European Commission launched the Policy Forum on Development (PFD) following the Structured Dialogue for an effective partnership in development, a comprehensive engagement involving more than 700 CSOs and local authorities worldwide. A decade later, the PFD has become a global platform for dialogue between the EU and CSOs, underscoring the EU’s commitment to consistent and open interaction with its development partners, notably CSOs and local authorities. The aim is to improve the effectiveness of EU development cooperation.

The PFD serves as a vibrant, permanent space where partners can collaborate as equals, pooling their knowledge to uphold and advance principles of development effectiveness. This forum promotes accountability and contributes significantly to strengthening EU development policy. Members of the PFD meet online and in person.

These gatherings are critical touchpoints, where members debate pressing development issues and evaluate the EU’s responses, particularly in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Discussions typically focus on topics such as EU programming, reducing inequalities, ensuring an enabling environment for the work of all actors, advancing gender equality and promoting inclusivity to ensure no one is left behind.
