Key Questions

Key questions regarding child rights mainstreaming in the formulation phase:

  • Are girls and boys an explicit and visible target group of the programme? Assuming that programme benefits to adults will automatically help children is not enough.

  • Is it clear exactly whom the programme will reach in terms of gender, age, ethnicity, socio-economic group, location and reach?

  • Does the results chain and do the indicators demonstrate how targeted girls and boys will benefit from the programme and how the programme will contribute to improved rights realisation for targeted children?

  • Are duty bearers identified and expected changes in their capacity to uphold their roles and responsibilities for child rights clearly articulated?

  • Are the human and financial resources committed to the programme appropriate and sufficient to achieve expected results with regard to child rights mainstreaming?
