Total duration of the action: 48 months
Objective of the action:
To contribute to the reduction of poverty of the marginalized people depending on informal sector and living on cross-border commercial areas by fostering their access to sustainable livelihoods and better social inclusion.
To assure the organisational strengthening of marginalised groups of interests, the ownership of their rights, the extension of their social protection, supporting entrepreneurship and the creation of productive employment around the HT- DR bi-national markets in border areas.
Target groups:
3000 permanent sellers and 1100 service providers of bi-national markets, 82% are women
5000 Migrant workers
7800 Craftsmen / technicians and self- employed producers of the 3 main municipalities affected by cross-border trade, meaning Belladère, Ouanaminthe, Malpasse.
Beneficiaries:
926.000 visitors of the binational markets above mentioned
50.000 seasonal migrant workers in the cross-border areas and, more generally, 150.000 Haitian permanent workers living in the migrant communities in Dominican Republic.
Expected results:
R1.The groups of interests, i.e. associations of women, traders and producers, are strengthened in their organisational skills
R2. The group of interests reach the economic and social inclusion thanks to the creation of decent jobs and of entrepreneurship possibilities induced by increased skills , vocational training and access to means of production
R3. Reinforced groups are able to defend their rights and know their duties as citizens and have access to an extensive social protection system
R4. The Governments / local authorities are aware of the challenges faced by people dependent on cross-border informal economy and offer answers to their needs
