Co-applicants : RESOPP (Réseau des Organisations Paysannes et Pastorales du Sénégal), GRET (Groupe de Recherche et d’Echange Technologique), GRAIM (Groupe de Recherche et d’Appui aux Initiatives Mutualistes), COOPEC-RESOPP(Coopérative d’Epargne et de Crédit du Réseau des Organisations Paysannes et Pastorales du Sénégal), COOPAKEL (Coopérative Agricole de Kèlle Guèye), COOPAD (Coopérative Agricole de Diendé), COORDEC  (Coopérative Rurale pour un Développement Concerté de Koungheul), COORAP (Coopérative Agricole de l’Arrondissement de Pambal), CORAD (Coopérative Agricole des Agropasteurs pour le Développement).

Total duration of the action: 48 months

Projected implementation dates from field work launching to closing of the action: from 01/01/2015 to 31/12/2018

Objective of the action: To Contribute to the eradication of poverty in Senegal, improving the social inclusion of vulnerable rural populations and the social and economic protection of vulnerable rural populations dependent on the informal economy. This will be achieved by deploying a range of cooperative and mutual services in 8 regions of Senegal.

Target groups: 600 000 vulnerable rural people directly benefiting from the services of cooperatives and mutuals. The institutions, bodies and staff of RESOPP system ( a network which comprehends 6 rural cooperatives, a national cooperative for Savings and Credit and a Training Center) and a cooperative for health.

Final beneficiaries:  3 million inhabitants in 8 regions in Senegal

 

Expected results:

R1. A system of knowledge, analysis, guidance,  monitoring and evaluation focused on social inclusion, considering the socio-economical  and geographical diversity

R2. Strengthening employability and self-employment, for individuals and groups, through the development and execution of 25 training modules (2 500 individuals trained, mostly youth and women)

R3. Improving skills of 500 representatives and staff of the system and RESOPP mutual

R4. The creation of 3 new cooperatives with a diverse range of services and operational

R5. 50.000 members receiving services  by the RESOPP system

R6.12.500 members joining an agricultural insurance

R7. 200.000 people covered by health insurance

R8. The technical, financial, operational and governance independence of the RESOPP system

R9. The inclusion of RESOPP in local and national decision-making bodies
